- Mardel� CopperSafe� is a chelated copper compound that is used for the treatment of infections of Ich, Flukes (Gyrodactylus), Anchor Worms, Velvet/Protozoan diseases and other external parasites.
How does Mardel� CopperSafe� work? ×
- Mardel� CopperSafe� when used as directed maintains a total copper level of 1.5 ppm to 2.0 ppm. (See General information for how to interpret test kit readings). This level of copper can be used in the treatment of fish due to Coppersafe�s unique chelating agent. The Chelating agent binds with the copper making it nontoxic to fish but effective against parasites. CopperSafe remains active for over one month in the aquarium and is safer to use than 0.3 ppm free copper treatments that are recommended in the literature for therapeutic use. CopperSafe does not color the water and will not interfere with the biological filter.
How do I use Mardel� CopperSafe�? ×
- Only one capful (5ml) of Mardel� CopperSafe� per 4 gallons of water is required. CopperSafe remains active for over one month in the aquarium. Be sure to add CopperSafe to replacement water, when water changes are made. This will maintain a therapeutic level in the aquarium.

- Mardel� CopperSafe� is safe to use with all Mardel water treatment products. Concurrent use of CopperSafe with antibiotics is recommended when treating for some bacterial infections because of possible mistaken identity of the bacterial infection.
What does Mardel� Maracide� do and why should I use it? ×
- Mardel� Maracide� is a specially compounded preparation that has been developed and thoroughly tested for the treatment of the most common of all fish parasite problems, Ich (Ichthyophthirius) or white spot. Maracide has been shown to be effective against Ich, Trichodina, Chilodinella and related parasites.
How does Mardel� Maracide� work? ×
- "Mardel� Maracide� when used as directed maintains a therapeutic level of several compounds that have been shown to be effective against certain parasites. Maracide contains Tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane, Dibromohydroxymercuriflourescein and aniline gren. Maracide will color the water but will not interfere with the biological filter. "

- Only one drop of Mardel� Maracide� per gallon of water is required. Repeat treatment every 24 hours for five days. Repeat this five day treatment only once if needed. After treatment Maracide can be removed by water changes, fresh activated carbon or some chemical filtration resins/pads.

Concurrent use of an antibiotic is recommended when treating for some parasitic infections because of possible tissue damage due to the removal of the parasite. The antibiotic is used to prevent secondary bacterial infections. There is no need to disconnect wet/dry or diatomaceous filters during treatment. "

- Each packet of Mardel� Maracyn�-Two contains 10mg minocycline activity. Due to its unique properties, Maracyn-Two is absorbed by the fish through the skin. During the prescribed treatment, the concentration of Maracyn-Two in the fish fluids rises to a therapeutic level and is available to fight systemic infections susceptible to its action. Minicycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which has been shown to be effective against a number of pathogenic bacteria associated with ornamental fish disease. Maracyn-Two may cloud the water but will not interfere with the biological filter. New activated carbon or charcoal and a 25% water change removes any cloudiness resulting from the treatment. After treatment Maracyn-Two can be removed by water changes and fresh activated carbon.

- Mardel� Maracyn�-Two packets should be dropped into the tank (not the filter). The packets dissolve rapidly and circulate through the water. An initial dosage of two packets per 10 gallons of water the first day is recommended, so that the disease can be hit hard to start with and finished off by the remainder of the treatment. Second day through the 5th day, use 1 packet per 10 gallons of water. Treat for 5 days even if visible signs disappear after a few days. Use of a hospital tank is recommended.

What does Mardel� MarOxy do and why should I use it? ×
- "Fungus infections are usually found at the site of an injury or recent attack from parasites. A true fungus infection has a cotton-like appearance similar to a mold found on fruit, bread or cheese except that on a fish a fungus is usually quite white. Fungus infections are very difficult to treat and are usually secondary invaders resulting from an injury on the fish or recent wounds from parasites or bacterial infection. Once the fungus starts growing on the fish, it usually continues to grow and enlarge. Unless medication is provided, death is the result. Fungi often attacks dead fish eggs and soon spread to adjacent live eggs, killing them. Fungi will grow on many types of decaying matter. For this reason a tank should be kept clean and free of excess food. Mardel� MarOxy� has been shown to be effective against Saprolegnia, Ichthyosporidium and egg fungus. "

Can I use this in my Saltwater tank? ×
- No, the special filter membrane that allows for the reversible color reaction clogs with salt and the sensor quickly stops working.
Can I test my sensor to see if it is working? ×
- "Yes, after the Mardel� LivepH� sensor has adjusted to your aquarium it can be placed in a glass of aquarium water and some pH Plus or pH Minus can be added to the water (make sure the sensor is fully submerged). The sensor should change color to reflect a lowering or raising of the pH. Allow at least 30 minutes to see a color change. The sensor can then be returned to the aquarium and it will return to it�s former value. "
How long will it take for my Mardel� Live pH� to give me a reading? ×

- The optimal pH range for these fish is between 6.2 � 7.4. The handy reference chart on the back of the package references many different varieties of fish.
How will I know when to change my Mardel� LiveMeter� Test Kit? ×
- "Using the sliding indicators, set the date (month and day) the Mardel� LiveMeter� Master Sensor will need to be changed prior to installing the Sensor. This will be approximately 4 � 6 weeks from the day that you place the meter in the aquarium. "
How long do I have to leave the Sensor in the tank before reading? ×
- "Once fully wet (1 � 2 hours), the Mardel� LivepH� sensor strip responds to pH changes in minutes. The LiveNH3 sensor strip and thermometer will begin monitoring values immediately. (Note: full color development can take up to 30 minutes, depending upon your water quality.) "
How do I �read� this sensor membrane? ×
- Compare the central membrane sensor strips to the adjacent color reference blocks to determine your pH and ammonia levels. A green color on the central thermometer indicates the correct temperature. If green is not visible, the temperature will be mid way between the illuminated tan and blue windows.

Can I take my Mardel� LiveMeter� out of the water and then use it again later? ×
- No, once the sensor has become wet, it needs to stay wet to function properly. If the sensor is allowed to dry out it will stop working properly.
Where should I place my Mardel� LiveMeter� sensor? ×
- The best place for the sensor is towards the bottom of the aquarium in a location that is easy to read. Placing the sensor here will increase it�s life as strong light from overhead lamps will reduce the sensors useful life.
How do I know that the sensor has stopped working? ×
- The intensity of the color shown on the strip of sensor material will fade dramatically and have a grey tone to it when the sensor has stopped working.
How do I know my Mardel� LiveMeter� sensor is working? ×
- "The sensor will change colors as conditions change in your tank. When first added to an aquarium the Mardel� LivepH� sensor will begin to wet out. This is usually characterized by areas of slightly different colors appearing on the long sensor strip, when the strip is completely wetted the color will be uniform. "

The most common cause of cloudiness in new aquariums results from improper washing of gravel.
